Our house burned down about four years ago, and let me tell you, it was the worst thing that ever happened to us. Losing all of your worldly possessions to fireis really tough and though you get over it eventually, life never really gets back to normal. Once we rebuilt, we decided to make the place as nice as it had ever been and more…we really treated ourselves! We installed a www.securitychoice.com alarm system that can detect fire and alert the authorities and we also got some reinforced fire doors all across the property. It’s been quite an undertaking getting everything back to the way it was and the kids had to readjust more than anyone else, but now we’re really living our lives again. Thanks to all of our neighbors and family we had all the support we ever needed, so getting back on our feet wasn’t tough at all. Next time disaster strikes we’ll be ready both physically and mentally, so bring it on, mother nature! We can take it at our house!
I have a lot of friends who are getting to the age where they’ve decided to branch out and start opening their own businesses; they’re in all different fields…from technology to law. Some of them I know will do just fine because they’ve got good heads on their shoulders. The others…not so much…and I’m a bit worried about them. I’ve even been contemplating coming up with some sort of unofficial consultants directory for them because I know that sooner or later they’re going to need to be able to find consultants for hire.
I know that there’s now some sort of stigma going around about hiring consultants to come into your business. People tend to look at it as if you don’t know enough to keep yourself afloat so you have to have someone come in and tell you how to fix your problems. I don’t think it’s like that at all. I think hiring someone to come in and help shows that you’re smart enough to recognize that there’s a problem and you want to get it fixed before it goes too far to recover from.
I hope that someday I can start my own business, and if that ever happens, I know I’m not going to shy away from getting help if i need it. I’d rather get help and stay open than hold on to some dramatic version of ‘pride’ and watch my business go belly-up.
Since the new year began, I’ve been trying more and more to lose weight. This means that I’ve been eating a lot better and trying to work out more than I did before. Sometimes these workouts can end up being pretty intense and and I end up totally trashed afterwards. It’s those times that I definitely need something like an insanity recovery formula to pick me back up afterwards. I may have to invest in something like that if I keep on the way I’m going. Or maybe I should just take some more breaks and do things a bit easily for a couple days to let myself recuperate. I’m not used to getting these kinds of workouts so taking it slow
So far though, it’s definitely working! I’ve been losing weight pretty steadily. I just need to get my eating habits together because they definitely leave something to be desired. Eating cheeseburgers at 11pm is not a good thing to be doing…but I blame my roommate for that one! He’s the source of my bad habits because he eats whatever he wants whenever he wants and then I end up eating with him.
So now that I’ve got the exercising pretty much down, time to fix the eating!
I feel like I’ve been running on empty the past few days… School has been boring as usual and, for once, so has work. It was so dead the other night that I ended up cleaning all of the registers with Windex and paper towels. It was NOT fun, but at least it was something to do… I have to work again tomorrow at 11:30 and I’m just PRAYING that people actually shop. I hate just standing around with absolutely nothing to do.
Even though I haven’t actually done anything, for some reason I’m still tired as hell… I’m usually up until three or four in the morning, but its not even 11pm yet and I’m contemplating crawling into bed. My roommate conked out an hour ago. I guess we both just need the sleep. Hopefully we’ll be able to catch up on it this coming weekend. I finally have a couple non-school days off and, unlike last time, I’m turning my phone off so that they can’t call me in (realistically I probably wont… since I want the money and I can’t say no to my boss).
So I guess that’s about it. I’m going to head to bed and HOPEFULLY get some stuff accomplished tomorrow when I get out of work. I’ve got a bunch of things that I’ve been neglecting to do, and I really need to get them finished or I’m gonna have a ton of problems… joy.
One of the most annoying things about my apartment is the fact that our upstairs neighbors never bring in the mail. We have a mail slot where the postman slips the mail in and then it ends up on the floor between the two outside doors. Instead of picking up the mail and bringing it in, our neighbors just walk over it. Now that it’s winter, that means we get some soggy mail every now again again. That’s why I’ve been on the hunt for a good site where I can look at mailboxes for sale in hopes of finding a new solution so that I can actually read my bills when I open them. That’s how I stumbled upon Mailboxixchange, a website selling several different kinds of boxes.
I looked through their selection trying to find a wall mount mailbox because that’s what I think would suit us the best. The postman could just put the mail in that and even if the neighbors didn’t bring it in, at least it wouldn’t be getting stepped on at all. I found a few that I liked, since there’s a selection of over 60 different styles of that one type of mailbox.
I also really liked looking through the decorative mailboxes that Mailboxixchange offers… I’ve always been a sucker for fancy things, and mailboxes are no exception. The fancier / crazier they look, the more I like them. I also like really elegant boxes, so of course I found way too many on this site that I’d like to end up buying. Now the hard part will be narrowing down the choices so that I can pick just one (or I could pawn that task off onto my roommate Kyle and secretly despise his choice for the rest of eternity)!
Blogging from my break at work! It’s so slow today that B and I are bore to death… It’s pretty bad when you’re actually hoping that disgruntled customers come through the lanes… At least they provide some entertainment.
I think the rookie and I are going to hit up Cheesecake Factory tonight… Or maybe the Ibeza wine bar.. Regardless… Should be fun!
